Walter T. Pepich, 89, passed away at his home in Romeoville, Illinois on December 23, 2012. Born in Chicago, Illinois on June 25, 1923, he was a long-time resident of Westmont, Illinois and Lake Summerset in Davis, Illinois. Walter served in the Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater, receiving 8 battle stars. He married Joan Vodak-Dolly on April 15, 1950. Walter spent his professional life of over 40 years in the insurance industry, but most enjoyed his roles as husband, father, and grandfather. He was active in a variety of civic and charitable work in the communities in which he lived including coaching little league baseball and serving for a number of years on the Westmont Zoning Board. Walter is survived by his wife Joan and their six children: Bruce (Lisa Englander), Brian (Linda), Barry (Laurel), Brent (Ann), Belinda (Mark Polan), and Beth (Tony Gulczynski). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and many friends.
The family is hosting a visitation on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at the Markiewicz Funeral Home in Lemont, Illinois (630-257-6363 Markiewiczfh@Yahoo.com). A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westmont, Illinois on Thursday, January 3 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Racine Art Museum (www.ramart.org).
